Session Planner & Campaign Timeline

Good sessions are mostly good prep. Sketch the scenes you expect to run, pin the prep notes you'll need, and link the NPCs and quests each beat touches. Run the session, check beats off, then log the whole thing to your journal in one click — and watch your campaign's arc build on a single timeline.

Demo mode — changes aren't saved. Open a campaign in the app to keep your prep.

Prep that turns into a recap

Plan in scenes, not walls of text. Each scene is a checkable beat with its own notes and links to the cast involved, so when your players veer off you can still see what was meant to happen and pull the right NPC into the moment.

Nothing you write is wasted. Completing a session copies the plan straight into your session journal, and the timeline stitches sessions, journal entries, and quest goals into one view — the closest thing to a campaign bible that maintains itself.

Frequently asked questions

What does the session planner do?
It gives each session a prep sheet: a title and date, free-form prep notes, and an ordered list of scenes or beats you expect to run. You can check scenes off as they happen and see at a glance how far through your plan you are.
Can I link scenes to my NPCs and quests?
Yes. With a campaign open in The Spider's Web, each scene can link to any NPC, faction, or location on your relationship map and to any quest in your tracker, so the cast and stakes for a scene are one tap away while you run it.
What is the campaign timeline?
The Timeline tab merges your planned sessions, journal entries, and quest goals into one chronological view, so you can see the arc of the whole campaign — what's coming, what happened, and which quests are still open — without flipping between tools.
What happens when I finish a session?
Hit 'Complete & log to journal' and the plan — title, notes, and scene list — is copied into your session journal as a dated entry and the session is marked done. Your prep becomes your recap automatically.
Does it work for any system?
Yes. The planner tracks scenes, notes, and links — not rules — so it fits D&D, Pathfinder, Call of Cthulhu, PbtA games, and homebrew equally.
Is the session planner free?
The planner and campaign timeline are part of Spider's Web Pro ($5/month or $50/year), alongside the session journal and quest tracker it builds on. You can try the full tool in demo mode on this page; saving sessions to a real campaign requires Pro.
